Welcome to the family
At Ngatarawa we are making wine with the same kinds of grapes our family has been working with for over a century – Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Riesling. Beyond this we are working with new and experimental varietals and styles, blending art and science to make wines for the 21st century.
A sense of history hangs in the rafters at the Stables. It is here the winemakers practice the time honoured art of blending, ensuring the full flavour and smooth body in every bottle. Gentle in style, the range evokes life’s simple pleasures - warmth, hospitality and conversation.
Stables Reserve is a fruit driven varietal range produced from small parcels of premium grapes from selected vineyards in Hawkes Bay. Stables Reserve wines have good palate weight and are crafted to bring out the true varietal character of the region.
Glazebrook Regional Reserve explores the potential of selected grape varieties grown in some of New Zealand’s best wine growing regions. Fine wine has a sense of place and the map co-ordinates on the label reinforce the origin of the wine.
The Proprietors Reserve is a range of limited release wines that stand testament to an enduring family winemaking legacy. The handcrafted wines capture the distinctive regional and bright fruit characters of Hawkes Bay and exhibit the aromatic fruit and soft tannins typical of the Bridge Pa triangle.
The Alwyn brand is the epitome of winemaking at Ngatarawa. It is the Winemaker’s Reserve range, named after the winery’s founding winemaker, Alwyn Corban. The wines are only produced in exceptional vintages and even then only in small volumes. They are the winemaker’s expression of his craft, his aspiration for quality and style.
