June 2010 - TOP PRICE PAID for Ngatarawa Merlot Cabernet 2007 at Charity Wine Auction

19 years ago Ngatarawa submitted 56 half bottles of 1991 Noble Chardonnay for the first ever charity wine auction held by the Hawke's Bay Vintners Association.  It fetched the highest price of $7000.

On Saturday 5th June, Ngatarawa again topped the highest price paid of $8,650 for a 225 litre barrel of 2007 Merlot Cabernet.

A total of $131,650 was raised at the 2010 Midlands Hawke's Bay Winemakers Charity Wine Auction. The proceeds are gifted to Cranford Hospice whose palliative care service reaches 140 patients on average at any one time.

The wine auction is a premiere event for the Hawke's Bay industry. It presents unique lots of fine wine and helps sustain a vital regional service for the community.
